A new take on downloadable product catalogs
Allurent is taking online catalogs a step further with Flash. Adobe’s Edge newsletter links to a video demo of the upcoming Allurent Desktop Connection software.

What’s interesting about this type of catalog is that it’s not a website. The catalog is a program that you download. It syncs up to the online store’s database from time to time. But shoppers can peruse the store’s catalog without being connected to the Internet.
A lot of online stores provide a PDF version of their catalogs for printing. But who loves PDFs, really? You end up waiting on Acrobat to load up. Then you have this strange interaction technique of zooming and scrolling.
